DIY ideas, bouquet recipes and Helianthus Week 16 juli 2021
Helianthus are easy to take care for:
Cut the stems a few cm,
Use a glass clean vase,
Use flower food,
Don’t let the leaves hang in the water,
Don’t place them near fruit.
Below you find ideas for you and your customers so they can buy even more Helianthus!
DIY ideas, 3 Bouquet recipes and inspiration
Bouquet recipy #1: Yellow
You will need:
Helianthus
Gladiolus
Celosia
Gerbera
Gloriosa
Get as many yellow and orange flowers as you can for a banging bouquet.
With such beautiful flowers in the same colour tone, you can't really go wrong. Twist a sheaf of grain or place them randomly in the vase. The trick is to keep a nice difference in height and to give all the flowers a place of honour.
Bouquet recipy #2: Sunny
For this bouquet recipe, we chose the flower stars of the season. Bundled together, they make a spectacular bouquet.
You will need:
Gladiolus
Delphinium
Helianthus
Gloriosa
Allium
Lathyrus
We choose the biggest varieties in the wildest colours. There are no rules. Colours, shapes, lengths, numbers: choose what catches your eye until you can barely hold on to it.

Bouquet recipy #3: Summer
You will need:
Gerbera
Delphinium
Snapdragon
Lathyrus
Helianthus
Gloriosa
Create a playful effect by varying the heights of the flowers and choose your most summery vase to display the bouquet in (or use a large cocktail glass for an extra summery effect)!
DIY: Homemade paper with Helianthus
What you need:
5 Helianthus
Wooden photo frame
A piece of wire netting
Singel nails
Container that is bigger than the frame
2 pieces of felt the size of the frame
Roll of white toilet paper
Scissors
Mortar
Hammer
1: Start by emptying the wooden frame. Stretch a piece of wire netting around the wooden frame and hammer the upholstery nails into it. Make sure that the mesh is continuously under tension. Then cut the mesh to size.
2: Make pulp from half a white toilet roll. You do this by tearing up paper leaves and collecting them in the mortar. Add a little water and make pulp with the mortar. Set the pulp aside and fill the container half full of water. Put the pulp in the bowl and stir.
3: Pick and tear leaves from the Helianthus for a yellow version. Or make paper from the green leaves and stems of the Helianthus. Crush these and boil them with a tablespoon of soda. The substance should really become very snotty.
4: Take the frame and make a creative movement.
5: Allow to drip out for a moment and place a piece of felt over it. Press well. Turn the piece of paper over onto the piece of felt and use the other piece of felt to press out the last of the moisture. Leave it to dry for an evening, for example between the weight of books.
DIY: Natural Helianthus Paint
What you need:
12 Helianthus
Empty ink bottle
Sealable jar
Sieve
Mortar
Water
1: Pick the yellow petals from the Helianthus and grind them in a mortar.
2: Sprinkle this finely ground mixture into a sealable jar and add the same mass of water. Leave it to stand overnight.
3: Pass the pulp through the sieve, what remains is a pot of watercolour. Would you like the watercolour to be more concentrated? Then boil it briefly.
